Legal Research Sources

Many student in this class find using the law reviews search in Lexis a good starting point for research for this class. Lexis has many resources for your papers. To get a overview of a legal topic start with LEXIS® Law Reviews which is found under US Legal on the Lexis page. The law review articles generally give a good general overview of a topic and often cover specific statutes and specific cases. Direct link to LEXIS® Law Reviews

Finding cases

Lexis is the most comprehensive resource for finding cases. Case search is found on the basic Lexis page.
Goggle Scholar has an option to search legal cases. It can be used to find cases by name and subject.

Finding the text of state and federal laws and federal regulations

It is very difficult and tedious to search each state's law or regulations separately to compare provisions. You can find the text of federal material in Lexis under US Legal with links to Federal Statutes, Codes & Regulations  and State Statutes, Codes & Regulations

Ask for help if you have problems. Generally you can find this kind of research already done in a law review article. It is standard practice to survey the area before getting into the actual subject of a law review. LEXIS® law review search
